Multiphase Model of Reinforced Materials
نویسندگان
چکیده
Making use of the virtual work method, a mechanical multiphase model for reinforced materials is developed. Matrix and reinforcement are continuously distributed. The work of internal forces accounts for the matrix three-dimensional and inclusions onedimensional characteristics and for their interaction as well. The corresponding equations of motion and associated boundary conditions are deduced for each phase by applying the virtual work principle. Two applications of the model are proposed in the domain of rock-bolting tunnels.

متن کاملDrilling of Fiber-Reinforced Plastics - Tool Modeling and Defect Prediction
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites have been steadily replacing metals as choice engineering materials for various applications. Although FRPs can be manufactured to near-net shape, post processing operations such as machining are required to create some features (such as holes). In order to drill holes efficiently with the least waste and defects, it is essential to understand the machi...
متن کاملFiber waviness in nanotube-reinforced polymer composites—I: Modulus predictions using effective nanotube properties
Results in the literature demonstrate that substantial improvements in the mechanical behavior of polymers have been attained through the addition of small amounts of carbon nanotubes as a reinforcing phase. This suggests the possibility of new, extremely lightweight carbon nanotube-reinforced polymers with mechanical properties comparable to those of traditional carbon-fiber composites. Motiva...
متن کاملOn the Buckling the Behavior of a Multiphase Smart Plate based on a Higher-order Theory
Magneto-electro-elastic materials are multiphase smart materials that exhibit coupling among electrical, magnetic and mechanical energy fields. Due to this ability, they have been the topic of numerous research in the past decade. In this paper, buckling behavior of a multiphase magneto-electro-elastic rectangular plate with simply supported boundary conditions is investigated, based on Reddy’s...
متن کاملModelling of Tensile Behaviour of Sheet Moulding Compounds
An original approach to compute the longitudinal tensile break stress of multiphase composite materials with short fibers reinforcement is presented. The most obvious mechanical model which reflects a multiphase composite material is a pre-impregnated material, known as prepreg. We may include in this class of prepregs, Sheet-and Bulk Moulding Compounds. The model is seen as consisting of three...
